Getting started with Topstep is simple! To get started with the Trading Combine, you'll need to create an account with Topstep, choose your account size and trading platform, and enter your payment information to start your monthly subscription.

Please note the following:

Sales tax may be added at checkout where applicable and is not included in the listed prices.

PayPal is not a supported payment method on the new Topstep dashboard.

Trading Combine

The cost of the Trading Combine (sometimes called our evaluation or test) varies by the account size and which path you choose.

You can pay for the Trading Combine via credit card or debit card.

Option 1: Standard Path

  • $49 Trading Combine® subscription + $129 activation fee when you pass

  • Lower upfront cost

  • Best for traders who are learning and working on their strategy.

Option 2: No Activation Fee Path

  • $89 Trading Combine subscription + no activation fee when you pass

  • Pay a little more up front, and nothing when you pass.
    Best for traders who are dialed in and can pass in 1-2 attempts.

The Standard path is best for traders who want to keep monthly costs low while they work on consistency and strategy. You’ll only pay the Activation Fee once you’ve proven you’re ready for funding, making it a budget-friendly way to build skills over time.

The No Activation Fee path is ideal for traders who have their strategy dialed in and are confident they can pass the Trading Combine in one or two attempts. By paying more upfront, you skip the Activation Fee entirely once funded, saving money overall if you pass quickly.

Resets

Reset prices vary per account size.

  • Standard Path:

    • 50K Standard Path Reset costs $49

    • ​100K Standard Path Reset costs $99

    • 150K Standard Path Reset costs $149​

    No Activation Fee Path:

    • 50K No Activation Fee Reset costs $89

    • 100K No Activation Fee Reset costs $139

    • 150K No Activation Fee Reset costs $189

Activation Fee

Topstep now offers two paths to funding, each with a different approach to the Activation Fee. Choose the option that fits your trading style.

  • Standard Path:

    • Lower monthly cost; pay the Activation Fee after you pass.
      50K Standard - $49 Trading Combine + $129 Activation Fee when funded
      100K Standard - $99 Trading Combine + $129 Activation Fee when funded
      150K Standard - $149 Trading Combine + $129 Activation Fee when funded

  • No Activation Fee Path: $89 Trading Combine + $0 Activation Fee when funded

    • Higher monthly cost; skip the Activation Fee entirely once funded.
      50K No Activation Fee + $0 XFA Activation Fee when funded - $89
      100K No Activation Fee + $0 XFA Activation Fee when funded - $139
      150K No Activation Fee + $0 XFA Activation Fee when funded - $189

The Activation Fee applies only to traders on the Standard path and must be paid for each Express Funded Account earned.

You can pay for the Activation Fee via credit or debit card.

Does this new price apply to Express Funded Accounts earned in the Legacy dashboard?

No, the new price is available only for traders using the new Topstep Dashboard.

What if I just paid $149 to activate my Express Funded Account? Does this new price apply to previously activated accounts?

No, the updated pricing is only available for new Express Funded Accounts going forward.

If someone is already in a Trading Combine today but has not yet passed, will the activation fee be $129 or $149?

After the price change, any newly earned Express Funded Accounts will have the newly priced ($129) Activation Fee.

Data Fees

Level 1 data, also known as Top of Book data, includes the best bid and best ask. If you are chart trading, this is the data you are using. This is free with your Topstep subscription.

Level 2 data, also known as Depth of Market data, includes 5-10 of the best bid and ask prices so you can see sell and buy orders waiting to be placed. If you are DOM or Matrix trading, this is the data you are using.

Traders who would like to receive Level 2 (Depth of Market) Data for all exchanges can upgrade from their dashboard for $34.25 per month. Click here for step-by-step instructions on upgrading.

You can pay for Level 2 data via credit card or debit card.

Commissions and Fees

Commissions and Fees are not paid out of pocket. They are taken out of your account balance automatically with every filled trade you make and are accounted for in your Net P&L.

Trading Platform Fees

Important Changes to Topstep Supported Platforms:

Starting July 7th, new Trading Combines will only be available on TopstepX. You can continue trading an active account on the platform that you have currently selected and will be able (if needed) to reset that account. After this date, you will no longer be able to switch platforms or purchase a new Trading Combine on any platform other than TopstepX.

Starting August 1st, the ability to reset will only be available on TopstepX. You can still trade your active existing account. However, if the account hits the Maximum Loss Limit on a platform that is not TopstepX, you will no longer be able to reset that account. If that occurs, you will be able to activate a new account on TopstepX.

Topstep provides access to a range of trading platforms at no cost during the Trading Combine and the Express Funded Account stages. Additionally, some platforms are available for free in the Live Funded Account. You can refer to this chart for a clear breakdown of which platforms are free and which ones require payment. It's important to note that while Topstep itself does not charge any platform fees; any charges associated with using a particular platform will be directly payable to the platform provider, if applicable.

Compare the Savings of a Topstep Trading Combine vs. a Personal Brokerage Account

First, download the spreadsheet by clicking File + Download. After opening the downloaded spreadsheet, enter the number of months you anticipate it will take to pass the Trading Combine and how many Resets you expect per month during that time.

VAT and Sales Tax

Topstep's listed prices show the base price for each of our services. Depending on your location, valued added tax (“VAT”), goods and services tax (“GST”), or sales tax may be applied to the base price of our services in accordance with local tax regulations.

Topstep collects and remits any applicable taxes to the appropriate local tax authorities. Topstep does not keep any portion of the taxes collected. Taxes are automatically calculated and applied at checkout, so you’ll always see the total amount due before completing your purchase. No additional charges will be added after the transaction is finalized.
