Getting started with Topstep is simple! To get started with the Trading Combine, you'll need to:

Trading Combine

The Trading Combine is a monthly subscription that auto-renews until you pass or cancel. Cost varies by account size and path. You can pay by credit or debit card and cancel anytime from your Billing page.

Standard Path

  • $50K — $49/month

  • $100K — $99/month

  • $150K — $149/month


No Activation Fee Path

  • $50K — $109/month

  • $100K — $159/month

  • $150K — $209/month

Choose Your Path

Standard Path — Lower monthly cost, $149 activation fee when you pass. Best for traders still working on consistency.

No Activation Fee Path — Higher monthly cost, no fee when you pass. Best for traders confident they'll pass in 1–2 attempts.

Read below for examples regarding purchasing Trading Combines, Resets, and new payout caps. Learn more about payout caps here.


Example 1 — A brand new Trading Combine purchased after April 28

  • Trader purchases a new $50K No Activation Fee Trading Combine on or after April 28

  • New pricing of $95/mo applies

Example 2 — Existing Trading Combine Rebills and Reset Credit is Used for New Account

  • Trader purchases a $50K No Activation Fee Trading Combine before April 28

  • Reset Credit is granted during rebill at the OLD price

  • Reset Credit activates new account that will have OLD payout cap

Example 3 — Existing Trading Combine has Reset purchased Prior to Rebill

  • Trader purchases a $50K No Activation Fee Trading Combine before April 28

  • Trader purchases a Reset on that account prior to the rebill

  • The Reset costs the new price, but retains the old payout cap

  • The upcoming rebill will now reflect the new price

Example 4 — Existing Trading Combine Passed After April 28, Activating XFA after April 28

  • Trader purchases a $100K Trading Combine before April 28 and passes after April 28

  • Trader has an active Express Funded Account after April 28 with the old payout cap

  • Trader uses Back2Funded to Reactivate that account afterwards and retains the old payout cap upon reactivation

Example 5 — $150K No Activation Fee Trading Combine Purchased After April 28

  • Trader purchases a new $150K No Activation Fee Trading Combine on or after April 28

  • New pricing of $229/mo applies

  • If the account passes, the payout cap is the same as before for $150k accounts

    • Standard: $5,000 per Payout

    • Consistency: $6,000 per Payout

Express Funded Account Activation Fee


Topstep offers two paths to funding, each with a different approach to the Activation Fee.


Standard Path

Lower monthly cost. Activation Fee paid after you pass.

  • 50K: $49/month + $149 Activation Fee

  • 100K: $99/month + $149 Activation Fee

  • 150K: $149/month + $149 Activation Fee


No Activation Fee Path

Higher monthly cost. No Activation Fee when you pass.


Important Notes

  • Activation Fee applies only to the Standard Path, charged once per Express Funded Account earned

  • Payable by credit or debit card


Pricing FAQs

Which Activation Fee applies if I'm already in a Trading Combine?
Any Express Funded Account activated on or after February 5, 2026 uses the $149 fee.


Will my Rebill price change?
No. Resets and new purchases reflect updated pricing from February 5, 2026 — your rebill is unchanged.


Is there a price difference between Standard and Consistency Express Funded Accounts?
No. The activation price is the same for both.

Data Fees


Level 1 Data (Top of Book)

Includes best bid and ask prices. Used for chart trading. Included at no additional cost with your Topstep subscription.


Level 2 Data (Depth of Market)

Shows multiple bid/ask levels (typically 5–10). Used for DOM or Matrix trading. Available as an upgrade for $38/month, payable by credit or debit card.

How do I purchase Level 2 data?


Go to your Topstep Dashboard, visit the Accounts tab, click Add Ons, and select Depth of Market Bundle.

Level 2 data is not prorated — you're charged the full price regardless of when you purchase, and billed on the 1st of each month.

Level 1 and Level 2 pricing applies to Trading Combines and Express Funded Accounts only. Live Funded Account traders are subject to Professional Data fees. See the Live Funded Account costs article for details.

Commissions and Fees


Commissions and fees are automatically deducted from your balance with each filled trade and reflected in your Net P&L.

VAT and Sales Tax


Listed prices reflect base costs only. Applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) are calculated and displayed at checkout in accordance with local regulations. Topstep collects and remits all taxes and does not retain any portion. View billing details anytime from your account dashboard.


Promo Code Information

Read this before applying a promo code:

  • Already have an account? Log in to your Dashboard before applying — do not create a new profile.

  • Codes apply to either a new Trading Combine or a Reset — not both. Read the terms carefully.

  • Topstep does not offer refunds for codes applied incorrectly. Account size cannot be changed after purchase.

  • Unless stated otherwise, the first month bills at the promotional price. All subsequent rebills and Resets are full price.

Please note: Topstep does not refund purchases where a promo code was not applied, or Trading Combines purchased outside of promotion terms. Purchasing at full price before a sale does not qualify for a retroactive discount.

How to apply a promo code


Log in to the Topstep Dashboard and click "Start a Trading Combine."

  1. Select your account size.

  2. Accept the Trading Combine Account Rebill Agreement, then confirm your address.

  3. Fill in your address and click "Confirm Shipping Info."

  4. Under Coupons & Payment, enter your code and click "Apply."

  5. The discounted amount will appear once applied.

  6. Enter payment details and click "Pay."

What do I do if my promo code isn't working?

Start by reviewing the terms in your offer email. If you're seeing an error, check the following:

  1. Codes are case-sensitive

  2. Remove any spaces before or after the code

  3. Try typing manually if copy/paste isn't working

  4. Codes are profile-specific and won't work under a different email address

  5. Confirm you meet any eligibility criteria (e.g., invite-only codes)


Payments and Troubleshooting

Topstep accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. PayPal is not supported.

How to Add or Update Payment Details

  1. Go to your Billing Page

  2. Click Add New Card and enter your details

  3. Scroll to Subscriptions

  4. Click the Edit icon next to the subscription you want to update

  5. Select your preferred card from the dropdown and save

At least one card must remain on file while a Trading Combine is active. Removing all cards will close your account.

Troubleshooting Payment Issues


1. Use a Card in Your Name

Your card must match the name on your Topstep profile exactly. Using someone else's card — even with permission — violates Topstep's Terms of Use and will be declined. Your profile must reflect your full legal name — nicknames and business names may cause a decline.


2. Check Your Billing Address

Must match your bank's records exactly, including formatting (e.g., "St" vs. "Street").


3. Re-Enter Your Payment Details

Delete your saved card and re-enter manually — avoid autofill. If the card is tied to an active subscription and can't be removed, add a new card first and set it as preferred.


4. Wait Before Retrying

Wait at least one hour between attempts. Rapid retries can trigger temporary blocks from your bank.


5. Contact Your Bank

If still declined, your bank may be blocking the transaction. When you call, ask the Fraud department to check for holds, confirm international and online transactions are enabled, and request they allowlist Topstep. Try the transaction while on the line. If unresolved, ask to switch from credit to debit, or try a different card.


6. Browser and Device Checks

  • Clear cache and cookies, or use a private/incognito window

  • Try a different browser or device

  • Disable VPNs, ad blockers, or extensions — VPN use is not permitted on Topstep

  • Delete your payment method and re-add it
