Overview
If you’re selected for a Pro Account, it means you’ve demonstrated strong performance and would typically be called up to a Live Funded Account (LFA). However, due to specific restrictions with our current Brokers, there are some countries where Live market access is not currently available.
A Pro Account lets you continue trading with parameters similar to an LFA, with a few key differences. Like the Express Funded Account, a Pro Account is a simulated trading environment.
Why did I receive a Pro Account instead of a Live Funded Account?
Under normal circumstances, Topstep would call high-performing traders up to Live. In some jurisdictions, Topstep is not able to offer Live market access at this time.
If this applies to you, Topstep may offer a Pro Account so you can keep progressing in the program while Topstep works toward expanding access.
Pro Account Details
1) One Pro Account maximum
Traders are limited to one (1) Pro Account.
2) How your Pro Account size is determined (if you have multiple XFAs)
If you have multiple Express Funded Accounts (XFAs) open, your Pro Account starting balance is based on the average XFA account size, then rounded up to the nearest standard size.
Example: 2×$50K + $100K + $150K = $87.5K average → rounds up to $100K Pro Account
3) Starting balance (20% of the average XFA size)
The Pro Account starting balance is equal to 20% of the average XFA account size.
$50K → $10K starting balance
$100K → $20K starting balance
$150K → $30K starting balance
Note: Simulated profits over the starting balance amount will be forfeited.
4) Maximum Loss Limit
Your Maximum Loss Limit (MLL) in a Pro Account will mimic the MLL in the Express Funded Account. You can read more here.
5) Daily Loss Limit
Pro Accounts have a set Daily Loss Limit based on the Pro Account size:
$50K Pro Account → $1,000 Daily Loss Limit
$100K Pro Account → $2,000 Daily Loss Limit
$150K Pro Account → $3,000 Daily Loss Limit
6) Balance Expansion and Scaling Plan
Unlike a Live Funded Account, Pro Accounts do not have Balance Expansion. The account balance will only adjust with PnL and payouts.
Note that Pro Accounts will be subject to the contract size Scaling Plan.
Payouts and balances
Your account balance changes based on your trading performance (P&L) and any payouts you receive. Payouts are subject to the same rules as a standard Express Funded Account (5+ winning days of $150. Winning days do not need to be consecutive. Payout up to 50% of the account and up to $5k. Net positive after 1st payout. Details can be found here.
Call Up Process
When our Risk team identifies that you are ready for the next step, they will reach out to notify you of your call up to Pro. The Risk/Live Account and Funding team will reach out with details on your Pro Account. Your XFAs will be closed as part of this process. This is expected and not an error.
What happens if the Pro Account breaches the Maximum Loss Limit
If your Pro Account breaches the Maximum Loss Limit and is closed, you can continue trading in Trading Combines and activate XFAs as they become available. By continuing to demonstrate strong performance, consistency, and sound risk management in your XFA(s) , you may be considered for another opportunity to move into a Pro Account.
What should I do next?
The next step in your trading journey should be:
Continue trading in your Pro Account to improve your trading skills.
Your own brokerage account
If there are updates to our Live Funded Account policy or Live market access in your jurisdiction, we will reach out to you.
