Tradovate Connection Instructions

Follow these instructions to connect to your Topstep Tradovate account.

Tradovate Connection Steps

  1. Launch your choice of Tradovate-supported platform:

  2. Enter the Topstep username and password provided in your “Topstep Account credentials” email. Your username and password are case-sensitive, so please double-check to ensure they're entered correctly.

  3. Then, you must select the correct Trading Mode based on your account type. If you are in a Trading Combine® or Express Funded Account™ then select the green option: ‘Login to the Simulated Environment’.

    If you see an "account not specified" error message after logging into Tradovate, this means you've selected the wrong environment; you must log out and log back in, making sure to select the correct environment in order to proceed.

If you are in a Live Funded Account®, select the blue option ‘Start Trading Now'

If you're unable to see your account name in Tradovate after logging in using the correct environment, check your Tradovate privacy settings. To fix this, follow the simple steps listed in this article to adjust your settings, then restart your platform: Tradovate Privacy Mode Settings.

Verify your account prior to trading

You should always verify the account you're trading in before placing a trade; this is because the default account shown in your Tradovate platform will change based on account/device activity, including resets. You can view your current account at the top-center of the platform under the Accounts drop-down, located to the left of your current account equity. If you are unable to see an account name in the dropdown menu or have multiple trading accounts and cannot select them for some reason, click here to adjust the privacy settings in your Tradovate platform.

Tradovate Scheduled Maintenance

The scheduled maintenance window for Tradovate is Friday 8:30 PM - 9:15 PM CT. During this time, if you purchase a Reset or Trading Combine®, you may receive an account creation error. If you do receive an error message regarding 'an issue creating your account' during this time, please wait until after 11pm CT to access the account.

What is included in Tradovate?

Topstep accounts provide the following:

  • Tick Stream

  • Market Replay

  • Tradingview Add-On

  • Advanced Charting

  • Community & Free Indicators

**Some volume-related indicators and features will require Level 2 Data.

Topstep accounts do not provide the following:

  • API Access

  • Order Flow+

  • The ability to connect to the NinjaTrader platform

    • This is due to the data feed that each platform uses with Topstep. See each platform's data feed here.

What operating systems is the Tradovate platform compatible with?

The Tradovate platform is compatible with the following:

  • Windows 7 or higher

  • Mac 10.10 or higher

  • iPhone 5 or higher

  • iPad 3 or higher

  • Android 5.0 or higher

How can I change the month or year for a contract?

At Topstep®, we define the front-month as the contract that currently has the most volume, and we require traders to be in the front month. You can change the month or year of a contract within your quotes by right-clicking on the quote to roll forward or backward depending on the contract month/year you are looking for.

You can now right-click in the new contract and drag any modules you would like to add to your layout (DOM or chart).

If you have Link to Quotes enabled on your chart, it will automatically update the chart when you click on the new contract's quote.
