OCO (One Cancels Other) orders are advanced trading tools where two orders are placed simultaneously, but when one order fills, the other is automatically canceled. This prevents over-trading and helps manage risk effectively.
Auto-OCO Brackets work similar to advanced orders you may have seen on other platforms. It allows you to set profit targets and stop losses by dollars and ticks to map out entries and exits for strategies. This means it allows you to manage trades without monitoring every move because the orders work together.
Setting Up Auto-OCO Brackets
First, you'll need to enable Auto-OCO Brackets in your Risk Settings. Navigate to Settings > Risk Settings and select Switch to Auto OCO Brackets.
Important: If you have any open positions or working orders, the new Brackets cannot be enabled until those are closed or canceled.
Once enabled, your Bracket Settings will update to display where you can:
Set take-profit and stop-loss distances in ticks or dollar amounts
Save preset bracket strategies for quick application to future trades
How It Works
When you place an order with Auto-OCO Brackets enabled:
Your entry order is placed at your specified price
Take-profit and stop-loss orders are automatically created based on your bracket settings
Individual orders per entry - each new position gets its own Take Profit/Stop Loss levels relative to that entry price (not averaged)
OCO execution - when either your take-profit OR stop-loss fills, the other order is automatically canceled
You can drag and drop your Take Profit and Stop Loss orders directly on the chart to quickly adjust their levels.
How do Auto-OCO Brackets benefit traders?
Individual Risk Management: Each entry gets its own take-profit and stop-loss levels, giving you precise control over every position.
Automated Execution: Your risk management works 24/7, even when you're away from the platform, because orders are managed server-side.
Professional Tools: Save and name your bracket setups to quickly apply proven strategies across different market conditions.
Visual Planning: See exactly where your take-profit and stop-loss levels will be placed before you enter the trade.
Best practices for using Auto-OCO Brackets
Plan Before You Trade: Set up your bracket parameters before entering positions to avoid emotional decision-making during live market action.
Save Your Strategies: Create named bracket setups for different market conditions or trading strategies so you can quickly apply them when opportunities arise.
Scale Systematically: When adding to positions, your brackets will maintain consistent risk management for each entry rather than averaging - use this for scaling strategies.
Test Your Setups: Use your Practice Account with different bracket configurations before applying them to funded accounts!
Auto-OCO Brackets in the Live Funded Account
Due to the way the data feed interacts with the live data, Drag & Drop Bracket Orders is not an available option in the Live Funded Account.
If you’re averaging in with an OCO, your entry line aggregates to the average entry price of all your positions. You can still have Take Profit and Stop Loss orders tied to specific entries and move them independently. We recommend using the “x” to close out of all positions.
We recommend that traders use Auto-OCO brackets, which will automatically place Take Profit and Stop Loss orders to ensure positions are not left unprotected.
